Grubhub alternative

A Grubhub alternative with 0% commission to the restaurant

Short answer: Grubhub lists marketing commissions of 5% (Basic), 15% (Plus) and 20% (All-access), plus a delivery fee from 10% when its drivers deliver, plus order processing. On a $40 delivered order that is about $7.52 to $13.52. Ser.vi direct online ordering is 0% commission to you: the guest pays a flat 5% at checkout, and you pay no monthly fee. Grubhub's own commission-free option, Grubhub Direct, waives commission for restaurants already on Grubhub, but the restaurant still pays order processing. Ser.vi also puts your POS ($0 monthly software) and table QR ordering on the same menu. Keep Grubhub for diners who find you in the app; move the ones who already know you to your own link.

Grubhub: pricing and fees, Grubhub Direct and the profit calculator, read October 30, 2026. Grubhub says pricing in New York City and other select markets may differ, that plan prices don't include payment processing, and that fees may change with local regulation. Your Grubhub agreement may differ, so check yours. Grubhub is a trademark of its owner; Ser.vi is not affiliated with Grubhub. Ser.vi: our pricing page.

The math on 600 orders a month

Take a restaurant with 600 online orders a month at $40, or $24,000 in online sales. Here is what the restaurant pays on each channel at Grubhub's published rates, using the 10% starting delivery fee and the $0.30 + 3.05% processing fee from Grubhub's profit calculator ($1.52 on a $40 order):

Channel Restaurant pays per $40 order Per month (600 orders)
Grubhub All-access + Grubhub Delivery (20% + 10% + processing) $13.52 $8,112
Grubhub Plus + Grubhub Delivery (15% + 10% + processing) $11.52 $6,912
Grubhub Basic + Grubhub Delivery (5% + 10% + processing) $7.52 $4,512
Grubhub Basic, self-delivery or pickup (5% + processing) $3.52 $2,112
Grubhub Direct (processing only)* $1.52* $912*
Ser.vi direct ordering (0% commission) $0.00 $0

* The Grubhub Direct page says you pay order processing fees per order but doesn't print the rate. This row assumes the same $0.30 + 3.05% that Grubhub's profit calculator uses for Marketplace orders; check your Direct statement. Delivery fees "start at 10%", so delivered rows are the lowest published case.

On Ser.vi, the guest pays $2.00 (5%) on that $40 order, which covers card processing and the platform. The restaurant pays $0 in commission and $0 in card fees on online orders. Delivery, when you offer it, starts at $6.50 plus tip and goes to the delivery provider.

Read that honestly: Grubhub Basic at 5% is a low marketplace commission, and Grubhub Direct is a real low-cost option if you are already on Grubhub. Compare our Uber Eats and DoorDash guides. Ser.vi is the better fit when you would rather the guest cover the online fee, you don't want your direct ordering tied to a Grubhub account, and you want your POS and table QR ordering on the same menu with $0 monthly software. Keep Grubhub for discovery, move your regulars direct

Grubhub still earns its fee when

  • A diner who has never heard of you finds you in the Grubhub or Seamless app. That is demand you don't already have.
  • You want Grubhub+ members, ad credits and Sponsored Listings, which Grubhub ties to its plans.
  • You have your own drivers: on Basic with self-delivery, Grubhub's published cost is 5% plus processing.

Use Ser.vi for the orders you already earn

  • Regulars, Google searchers and people who would have called: send them to your own branded storefront at 0% commission to you.
  • Capture customer info with opt-in permission and build your own list.
  • Offer delivery without marketplace commission: Ser.vi sends DoorDash drivers, from $6.50 plus tip, paid to the provider.
  • Run your POS on your existing iPad with $0 monthly software, and QR order-and-pay at the table on the same menu.

How to move orders off Grubhub without losing them

  1. Pull your Grubhub statements. Note your plan, whether Grubhub delivers, your order count, average order and what you paid in fees last month.
  2. Book a 20-minute demo. We put those numbers next to Ser.vi's fees and show online ordering, POS and QR ordering on one menu, with a free marketing report.
  3. Go live on your own link. We guarantee a 1-week setup from the time we receive all required information from you.
  4. Point your "Order" buttons at it. Your Google Business Profile, website and social links should send guests to your storefront, not the app.
  5. Tell your regulars. A card in every bag and a line on your receipts moves repeat guests to the channel where you keep the order total.

Questions restaurants ask

How much commission does Grubhub charge restaurants?
On get.grubhub.com/grubhub-pricing-and-fees (read October 30, 2026), Grubhub lists three Marketplace plans: Basic at a 5% marketing commission, Plus at 15% and All-access at 20%. If Grubhub drivers deliver, Grubhub adds a delivery fee that starts at 10% of the order; self-delivery has no delivery fee. Card processing is extra: Grubhub's profit calculator uses an order processing fee of $0.30 + 3.05%. Grubhub says pricing in New York City and some other markets may differ.
Is there a commission-free alternative to Grubhub?
Yes. Ser.vi direct online ordering is 0% commission to the restaurant: the guest pays a flat 5% at checkout, and the restaurant pays no monthly fee. Grubhub also has its own commission-free option, Grubhub Direct, for restaurants already on Grubhub Marketplace. Both are for orders that come to your own link; neither replaces discovery inside the Grubhub app.
What is Grubhub Direct and what does it cost?
Grubhub Direct is a branded online ordering site for your website and social links. Grubhub's Direct page says eligible Grubhub Marketplace restaurants can join with hosting, commission and delivery fees waived, and that the restaurant pays order processing fees per order. That page doesn't state the processing rate. An enhanced version with design help costs extra, and Direct payouts come daily, separate from Marketplace payouts.
How is Ser.vi different from Grubhub Direct?
Who pays, and what comes with it. On Grubhub Direct the restaurant pays order processing on each order, and Direct is offered to restaurants on Grubhub Marketplace. On Ser.vi the restaurant pays 0% commission and $0 in card fees on online orders; the guest pays a flat 5% at checkout, and no Grubhub account is needed. Ser.vi also includes an integrated POS with $0 monthly software and QR order-and-pay at the table on the same menu.
Should I leave Grubhub completely?
Usually not. Grubhub is useful when a diner who has never heard of you finds you in the Grubhub or Seamless app, and its Basic plan has a low published marketing commission of 5%. Keep it for that if the math works. Move the guests who already know you, like regulars, Google searchers and people who would have called, to your own ordering link.
Can I still offer delivery without Grubhub?
Yes. Ser.vi can take delivery orders on your own storefront and automatically send DoorDash drivers to pick them up. Delivery fees go to the delivery provider, starting at $6.50 plus tip. On Grubhub Marketplace, Grubhub Delivery starts at 10% of each order, paid by the restaurant.
How much does Ser.vi cost?
Online ordering: 0% commission to you and no monthly fee; the guest pays 5% at checkout. POS: $0 monthly software on your existing iPad (iPadOS 15 or later); staff-entered POS orders are 3.0% + 20¢, paid by the restaurant by default, and you can pass that to customers with a cash discount program. Optional Ser.vi hardware is charged separately and offered on terms. Optional marketing plans are $249, $449 and $749 a month. See pricing
