DoorDash DashOS: What it connects and what to ask before you sign up

· By Ser.vi News

Based on DoorDash's published material and reporting by Nation's Restaurant News (NRN).

What happened

DoorDash announced DashOS on Sept. 30, calling it "one platform to help restaurants grow." DoorDash says it connects its existing products across Marketplace, direct ordering, reservations, loyalty, guest management and marketing. Marketplace is DoorDash's app, where guests order delivery and pickup.

NRN reported that DashOS "is designed to break down the barrier" between guests who order "anonymously through the DoorDash app" and those who come through a restaurant's own website or reservations (NRN).

Do I need to do anything?

Not yet, unless DoorDash or your POS provider comes to you with an offer. DoorDash says DashOS works "without requiring restaurants to adopt a separate system or overhaul their operations" (announcement). NRN reported that it "will not affect restaurants’ third-party delivery pricing" (NRN).

DashOS has no published price. DoorDash's merchant page asks restaurants to talk to DoorDash, which will "recommend a starting point." Its plan to expand tools for restaurants on partner POS and middleware systems begins in 2027 (announcement).

What to ask before you sign up

  1. What will I pay each month for the tools I want, and is there a contract?
  2. Who owns the guest data? Can I export my guest list and order history if I leave? Ask what DoorDash's "permissioned signals" (merchant page) and "blinded, aggregated DoorDash Marketplace insights" (announcement) mean for your list.
  3. Does it work with my POS now, or only from 2027?
  4. Which processing rate applies to my Online Ordering package? DoorDash's pages list two Starter rates (see "What it costs").

What's in it

The merchant page groups the tools under reaching more customers, direct sales, repeat business and operations. They include direct ordering, loyalty, reservations, marketing, and Voice AI, an artificial intelligence (AI) phone assistant that DoorDash says answers calls and books reservations.

Several tools come from SevenRooms, the announcement says. SevenRooms is a reservations and guest-marketing software company that DoorDash said it finished buying on June 13, 2025 (DoorDash).

What it costs

NRN reported that "the price of DashOS will vary by the restaurant, and will be based on which elements of the system the restaurant wants to use." NRN added, "It will not affect restaurants’ third-party delivery pricing" (NRN).

NRN quoted Parisa Sadrzadeh, DoorDash's vice president of strategy and operations: "The marketplace is still the marketplace, and then you can add on whatever additional features of the OS you want to leverage" (NRN).

One piece has a published price, as of Oct. 18, 2026. Online Ordering, DoorDash's tool for ordering on your own website, charges no commission. The restaurant pays processing of 2.9% plus 30 cents per order, with no monthly fee on its Starter package, according to the Online Ordering page.

DoorDash's fee explainer, dated Oct. 21, 2025, gives a different Starter rate: 3.3% plus 30 cents. That's 0.4 percentage points more per order.

Which POS and middleware systems it works with

Middleware is software that connects your POS to delivery apps. DoorDash says it is "deepening its integrations" with POS and middleware providers "including Clover from Fiserv, Qu, Checkmate, Chowly, Deliverect, Stream, and Urban Piper, with more to follow" (announcement).

Beginning in 2027, DoorDash "plans to give 80,000+ restaurants on these systems more ways to use SevenRooms’ guest profiles and Online Ordering, In-Store Rewards, and Omnichannel Loyalty" (announcement). DoorDash's pages don't list which features work with which POS systems today.

About the numbers

DoorDash says personalized AI recommendations raised total reservations by more than 15%. That comes from its own test in July and August 2026, comparing guests who saw them with guests who didn't (announcement).

DoorDash also says members of its omnichannel loyalty program order 1.8 times as often as non-members, based on its Marketplace data from August 2025 through August 2026 (announcement). Customers who join a loyalty program may already be the ones who order more, so the gap doesn't show the program caused it. Both figures are DoorDash's own and haven't been independently checked.
